3d printed decorative cordless lamp powered by sunshine

four small photovoltaic cells from off-the-shelf solar garden lights collect energy from the sun during the day

at night they produce a soft luminous glow through the translucent lamp buds

approximately one hour of direct sunshine on all four solar cells will provide energy for three or four hours of light

the main structure of the solar bud lamp is a fullerene

assembled from identical series of hexagons and pentagons

the fullerene is the simplest of spherical shapes to construct

the hexagon and pentagon faces of the bud lamp are fastened together with three-pin 3d-printed connectors

the solar bud lamp is assembled from the repetition of eight different parts

the buds and photovoltaic cells are attached to the fullerene structure with threaded screw connections

to allow for future variations
